Cookie Policy
Last updated: May 22, 2026
1. What this policy covers
This Cookie Policy explains how The Varni Inc. (“we”, “us”, “The Varni”) uses cookies and similar technologies on thevarni.com, on customer subdomains such as your-kitchen.thevarni.com, and in our subscriber ordering portals.
It is intended to be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which describes the broader categories of personal data we process.
2. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file stored by your browser when you visit a website. It lets the site remember information about your visit — for example, that you're signed in, what language you prefer, or which theme (light/dark) you last selected.
We also use related technologies such as localStorage, sessionStorage, and server-set HTTP-only authentication tokens. For simplicity, this policy uses “cookies” to cover all of these.
3. Categories of cookies we use
a. Strictly necessary
These are required for the platform to function. You cannot disable them without breaking core features such as signing in or placing orders.
- Authentication tokens — HTTP-only, secure cookies that keep you signed in to your Kitchen Admin, Driver, or Subscriber dashboard. These are JWTs scoped to a single tenant.
- CSRF / session integrity — short-lived tokens used to validate that requests genuinely come from you.
- Tenant routing — internal headers/cookies that tell our proxy which kitchen subdomain you are on, so we serve the right branding and data.
b. Preference
- tiffin_theme— stores your light/dark mode preference so the next page load doesn't flash the wrong theme.
c. Analytics & performance
We use Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to understand how the platform is performing. Both are designed to be privacy-friendly: they do not use third-party cookies and do not track you across other websites.
- Vercel Analytics — aggregates anonymous traffic and conversion data. See Vercel's analytics privacy notice.
- Vercel Speed Insights — collects Core Web Vitals (loading, interactivity) without identifying individual users.
d. Payments
When you reach a payment screen, Stripe may set its own cookies on its domains in order to detect fraud and complete the transaction. We do not control these cookies. See Stripe's cookie notice.
e. Authentication
If you sign in with Google, Google may set its own cookies on its domains as part of the OAuth flow. See Google's cookie notice.
4. We do not use advertising cookies
The Varni does not run third-party advertising on the platform, and we do not set or read advertising cookies. We do not sell subscriber data to data brokers or marketers.
5. How to control cookies
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings — for example, Chrome, Safari, or Firefox. Blocking strictly-necessary cookies will sign you out and prevent core features (such as placing an order) from working.
If you are in the EU/EEA, UK, or another region with explicit consent requirements, you will see a consent prompt the first time you visit. Your choice is stored in a small cookie and can be changed at any time from the footer of the site.
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time — for example, when we add or remove a vendor. The “Last updated” date at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be announced via the Kitchen Admin dashboard.
